Simone Biles has become the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history, with her husband, NFL player Jonathan Owens, proudly cheering her on.
Owens celebrated her achievement at the 2024 Paris Olympics by sharing a heartfelt tribute on social media. He posted a photo of the couple in Paris, wearing Biles’ gold medal, and wrote, “Witnessing history every time you step on the mat … Congrats baby on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history!!!!”
However, Owens faced mixed reactions online for wearing the medal, with critics questioning his actions. Despite this, the couple’s bond remains strong. In defense of Owens, Biles emphasized that he adores her, and she’s “never met anyone quite like him.”
Biles also discussed her personal growth and mental health journey. In an interview with Hoda Kotb, she shared, “I’ve always tried to stay authentic to myself… I feel a lot more free, especially going to therapy.” Therapy has been pivotal in her overcoming struggles, including the “twisties,” and embracing her true self.
Beyond her Olympic triumphs, Biles values staying true to herself and being relatable to others, saying, “I think we used to think of therapy as a weakness, and now I think of it as a strength.”
