‘The Five’ Makes Television History, Becomes First Non-Primetime Program To Rank Number One In Viewers For A Full Year

In terms of ratings, Fox News continues to trample rivals MSNBC and CNN. Fox News had its third-highest-rated year in cable news history in terms of total day viewers in 2022.

Fox was the most watched cable network in basic cable’s primetime and overall viewership for the eighth consecutive year. For a record 21 years, it was also the highest-rated cable news network.

According to Nielsen/MRI Fusion figures, Fox News attracted the most diverse viewership among cable news networks in terms of politics, drawing in more Democrats, Independents, and Republicans than any other network in terms of total viewers and the younger A25-54 demo.

Fox News had the second-highest share of the cable news audience in its history during the day, with 53% of the 25–54 demographic. The network drew fifty-five percent of the evening viewership overall.

The Five Tucker Carlson According to Fox News, the top 13 cable news programs with total viewers tonight included Jesse Watters Primetime, Hannity, Special Report with Bret Baier, The Ingraham Angle, Gutfeld!, Outnumbered, America’s Newsroom, The Faulkner Focus, Your World with Neil Cavuto, America Reports, and The Story.

Additionally, Fox was home to 13 of the top-rated series in the 18–49 demo and the top-15 programs in the A25–54 demo.

“The Five,” a well-liked Fox News program, consistently set new standards.

At the conclusion of the year, a non-primetime cable program was the most watched program overall on television for the first time in television history.
