As Elizabeth and Daniel were going back to their house, they were seeing the beautiful sunset.
Daniel was feeling stressed about the private investigator his wife had hired to prove his infidelity. “Did you remember to pay the electricity bill today?” Elizabeth asked, as David was thinking.
“Of course I did,” Daniel said, but he did not in truth.
“Is it me, or is it warmer in here than usual?” Daniel asked, after they got inside of their home.
“I’ll check the thermostat later,” Elizabeth said.
“Did you leave the faucet running?” Daniel said, after he heard water noise from upstairs.
“No, you know I’m careful about closing faucets,” Elizabeth said.
“Honey, I left my laptop in the car; could you fetch it for me?” Daniel said, as he was panicked.
Elizabeth denied, but Daniel tried to convince her as he said, “You know, we could stay awake till morning. Netflix and chill?”
As Elizabeth smiled, and left, Daniel rushed towards the bedroom, the sound was coming from en suite bathroom, “Maybe I left it running,” he thought.
As he went inside the bathroom, he saw that Sophia was inside, his mistress. “Surprise, handsome!” She said.
“What the hell are you doing here, Sophia? How could you sneak into my house behind my back like this?” Daniel was terrified.
“What are you talking about? You showed me where the spare key is hidden.” Sophia said.
“I’m married, Sophia! I have a wife, Elizabeth, and she’ll be back any minute. I can’t believe what a disastrous situation you’ve created!” Daniel was panicking.
“Married?” Sophia said, “You lied to me, and now you’re blaming me?! You created this situation!”
“I never meant for it to go this far. I’ll leave Elizabeth and be with you. I promise. But you have to hide,” Daniel begged her.
As she was angry, she hid in the shower. Then, Daniel rushed towards Elizabeth to prevent her from seeing Sophia.
“Daniel, your laptop isn’t in the car. Where did you leave it?” Elizabeth asked.
“I-I flooded the bathroom and bedroom! It’s a mess. Don’t go up there. Let’s sit down. I’m in shock.” Daniel said, as he was pale.
“Daniel, please, you’re scaring me now. You’re being hysterical,” Elizabeth said, but Daniel responded, “Are you sure the bathroom and bedroom are flooded? I don’t see any water leaking from upstairs. I’m going up to take a look.”
“I’m sorry, Elizabeth,” Daniel said, “I’ve been under a lot of stress lately, and I didn’t want to burden you with it. Just don’t go upstairs.”
“See, Dan, no flooding. Are you feeling all right?” Elizabeth said, as she didn’t listened Daniel and went upstairs.
“I must be stressed,” Daniel said, “Maybe I left the faucet on slightly. That’s why the floor is wet,” he said, as he wanted Elizabeth to stay away from the bedroom.
As Elizabeth felt something was off, she opened the door of the bathroom, which was empty, but wet. “Ma-maybe I left the shower on?” Daniel said.
“I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I feel like I’m losing my mind! I need a drink. Let’s go downstairs and get a drink, honey.”
“Fine, you go and fix yourself a drink,” Elizabeth said, “Just take it easy, Daniel; this is not normal behavior. I need a shower.”
“Okay, I’ll go relax with a drink and order food. You have your shower, then join me, okay?” Daniel said.
As she entered to the bathroom, she noticed a bag, which it had inside a toothbrush, razor, and skin care products. Elizabeth thought that there was another woman.
As she was shocked, she was sure Daniel was cheating on him, as he was acting weird.
Then she thought that Daniel must’ve paid the investigator, to make him stay silent. At that point, Daniel went to the spare bedroom to talk with Sophia, “I’m so sorry. I didn’t know things would get so complicated!” He begged.
“Complicated? You’ve been lying for months, Daniel. You made me believe we had a future,” Sophia shouted.
“Shhh! I’ll divorce Elizabeth, but I need time. I’m doing this for us,” he said.
“Either you tell her now, or I will.”
Elizabeth was frozed in the shower, she was thinking what to do. Daniel hid Sophia into the closet of spare room.
Then, Daniel rushed back to the downstairs, to their kitchen. He started to his next move. He made a drink for himself.
Elizabeth left the bathroom, as she was trying to get a hold on herself, as she was trying to put a mask on her true feelings.
She saw the we footprints, which were heading to their spare bedroom. Then she saw a pink towel was sleeking from the closet. The towel vanished, and Elizabeth was sure, there was someone.
“I thought we had the perfect marriage,” she said to herself, as she was fighting with herself about opening the closet or not.
“I tried my best to save this marriage. I thought I was brave enough to face his infidelity. But I’m not, I think. You must be more attractive than me…”
As she slowly opened the closet door, Sophia said, “I’m so sorry,” she added, “I didn’t know he was married.”
“You have nothing to apologize for. We’re both victims of his lies,” Elizabeth answered.
“What do we do now?” Sophia asked, as she was devastated too.
“I have an idea.” Said Elizabeth, as she was wiping her tears from her face.
Daniel had no idea that Elizabeth found Sophia at the upstairs, as he was drinking his whiskey.
Then someone covered his eyes, and asked, “Guess who?”
Then Sophia revealed herself, which Daniel was angry, he said, “What are you doing?”
“I’m tired of being a secret,” she said.
“You can’t just walk around like this. What if Elizabeth sees you?” Daniel said.
“That’s the point. I don’t want to be a secret anymore. It’s me or her,” Sophia continued.
“Wait here. We need to be discreet. I’ll come up with a plan.”
“I’ll ask for a divorce. Let me drive you home, then I’ll handle Elizabeth.” Daniel said.
As he took Sophia in his car, and hide her with a blanket, he started to search for Elizabeth. “Where is she?” He said to himself.
“I can’t find her!” He said to Sophia, “Stay hidden until I figure this out.”
Then hhe thought, “Maybe she’s in the garage!”, but she was not there too.
“Where is she?” Daniel said again, “Maybe it’s for the best that I’m ending it,”
Then Sophia looked at the window, then Elizabeth emerged from under the blanket.
“What’s going on here?” Daniel shouted, “What do you two think you’re doing?”
“I know something was off for some time. I know how you bought the investigator with money! It’s over for you!” Elizabeth said, as she was crying.
“Wait, both of you, just wait. I can explain everything. And the investigator? What are you talking about?”
“Explain?” Sophia laughed, “You’ve done enough explaining. Now it’s our turn.”
“Thanks to Sophia’s evidence and my recording, I’ll take everything from you, including our business!” Elizabeth said.
“Look, let’s not overreact,” Daniel begged, “We can sit down and work this out. It’s just a misunderstanding!”
“A misunderstanding?” Elizabeth said, “Sophia, did you misunderstand my husband’s intentions in any way, perhaps?”
“Nope,” Sophia answered. “I understood him perfectly. He said he loved me and wanted to divorce you and be with me. But I don’t want this man near me any longer! He is dead to me.”
“That’s pretty much what I heard, too,” Elizabeth said. She got off the car, and looked down on Daniel.
“You have your divorce, Daniel. I’ll get our business lawyer to draw up the papers. I’m sure she’ll be happy to do that. I hope you can afford her with what little you’ll have left when we’re through.”
“I’ll pack a bag and stay with my brother. We can figure things out later, okay?” Daniel responded.
“Goodbye, Daniel! And yeah, keep the car. You can live in it if your brother doesn’t help!” Elizabeth said.
“Elizabeth, please don’t do this,” Daniel begged of Elizabeth.
“It’s done, Daniel. Goodbye,” Elizabeth said, as she went inside with Sophia, she asked, “How about a drink?”
